The Beatles - Run For Your Life |

so I just put a few pictures from my camera on my computer. you can see them ( here. )
so anyway more about my trip to houston and Rice:
the night I got in I got as sick as I've ever been. it was pretty bad. I'll spare you most of the details, but I got no more than half an hour of sleep at a time between midnight and 6 am due to excessive 'things' coming out of both ends of me. sometimes at the same time! fun! so friday I was on the couch/bed all day. we're not really sure what caused it, probably just some stomach bug. although I could blame it on dennis, he had the same thing and I was in his family's car on the drive to the airport. but whatever. I layed in bed/on the couch and listened to every beatles album, and decided that rubber soul is my favorite. I also read the book high fidelity, you know, the movie with john cusack and jack black and the record store? yeah. its an even better book. you should read it.
so I toured rice on saturday, and it was really awesome. it has only 2800 undergrads, which is like twice the size of costa. and its a relatively small campus, fairly easy to walk from one end to the other. an average class size is between 10 and 20, and we saw some classrooms that were just a table with 10 chairs around it, and the professor sits down and talks with you. 94% of the classes are taught by professors, as opposed to TAs, which is pretty cool.
also, instead of having fraternities or sororities, they have this thing called the "college system." every undergrad is put into one of 9 colleges, all named for donors to the school, and each one has their own colors and songs and what not. they compete in intramural sports, and then at the end of the year whoever has the most points gets the "president's cup." its like harry potter without the magic.
overall it was definitely a place I could see myself, and houston was cool too. never gets too cold, and I leave before it gets unbearably hot and humid. plus it would be nice having my aunt and uncle less than 30 minutes away, with their mansion and pool and driver and what not. but I have to get in first.
